CREx is a volunteer working collaborative of banks and nonprofit community-based organizations that meets throughout the year to exchange ideas and information on CRA related community development investment, lending and service opportunities. Specifically, CREx members hold preliminary conversations on the feasibility of funding local nonprofit programs or projects designed to benefit low- and moderate-income communities.

About our Events:

On an annual basis we seek to bring together the nonprofit and banking communities through CREX rapid pitch sessions where bankers and nonprofits meet quite informally to discuss the feasibility of projects or programs. Demand for the sessions runs high and we always have a full house!

In between the sessions the group hosts an annual reception preceded by a CRA training for nonprofits to introduce bankers and nonprofits to one another. Typically, we include a training on the CRA regulation in advance of the mixer.

A CREX Pitch session is where nonprofits present project ideas to bankers for financing or investments under the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA).  For more than three years, these two sectors have actively engaged on ideas for grants, loans and community service activities. A by-product has been the fostering of many business relationships leading to new funding opportunities and a better understanding of the CRA and Community Development.
